NEWARK OHIO LICKING JAIL TOUR AND TICKET JUNE 27, 2020

LICKING JAIL HISTORY

July 8, 1910 was a dark day in Newark, Ohio history. Carl Etherington, a detective with the Anti-Saloon League of Ohio, had come to Newark to raid saloons and speakeasies for illegal alcohol. Etherington shot local saloon owner William Howard in self-defense, and was taken to the jail. In retaliation for the agents’ activities, a mob formed. The crowd stormed the north side door of the jail, forcibly removed Etherington, and hanged him from a telephone pole on the southeast corner of the courthouse square. Governor Judson Harmon intervened to restore order. Fifty-eight of the mob participants were indicted: 25 for first degree murder, 10 for assault and battery, 21 for rioting, and 2 for perjury. Etherington’s lynching received national attention because it stemmed from a local uprising against the Temperance Movement.  Because of this, and other historic events that have occurred within the walls of this old Licking County jail, it has become one of the most important and well-known historic jails in Ohio. There has also been much interest in the possibility that this is a haunted jail, occupied by the spirits of those who were once confined within these walls.

INDIANA CROWN POINT TOUR AND TICKET JULY 18, 2020

image14

INDIANA CROWN POINT HISTORY

John Dillinger earned the name "The Gentleman Bandit" because he would wink at women during robberies and tell them not to worry with a smile on his face. And for his kindness to women and children, often giving coins to the children. Dillinger would become one of the most admired outlaws of the nineteen thirties. Not just for his Houdini escapes, and for his skills to make fools out of the Feds, but for his character and personality. Dillinger was a very likable person. He was funny, he was kind and he was very generous to others.

The late Joe Pinkston, owner of The John Dillinger Historical Wax Museum had interviewed several people on both sides of the law who had came in contact at sometime with the outlaw. Pinkston stated in all his interviews that not one of these people disliked Dillinger. In fact this the character Dillinger portrayed helped to earn him the title "The Gentleman Bandit."

Philadelphia, PA, Fort Mifflin TOUR & TICKET AUGUST 15 2020

image17

History Of Fort Mifflin

As the British marched triumphantly into Philadelphia during the last days of September in 1777, a strategic dilemma faced General William Howe, commander of the army. Surrounded by rebel forces from the north, east and west, his troops were in desperate need of supplies—gunpowder, clothing, food, and munitions. Without these items the capture of Philadelphia might become meaningless and the British would be unable to pursue and destroy Washington’s Army before winter.  It was here, on the frozen, marshy ground within the walls of a stone and wood fort, the American Revolution produced a shining moment. Cold, ill and starving, the young garrison of (now) 400 men at Fort Mifflin refused to give up. The valiant efforts of the men at Fort Mifflin held the mighty British Navy at bay providing Washington and his troops time to arrive safely at Valley Forge where they shaped a strong and confident army. This battle escalated into the greatest bombardment of the American Revolution and one that many say changed the course of American history.

Now, enter modern day, and times of yesteryear still ring out loudly at For Mifflin as Paranormal Activity is abundant within its compound grounds. Venture back in time with Robbie Thomas as this will be a tour stop everyone will remember forever!

JACKSON MICHIGAN STATE PRISON TOUR & TICKET AUGUST 22, 2020

image20

JACKSON PRISON HISTORY

Established in 1838, Michigan’s First State Prison remained in operation through 1934. It was an incredibly brutal place that housed some of the state’s worst criminals and was known for its prisoner neglect, abuse and torture. Today the old prison has become the Armory Arts Village, a residence, and studio for local artisans. Apartments are very contemporary and halls covered with artwork. In spite of its modern renovations and freshly painted walls, though, rumors persist of its haunting. A few artisans have even drawn sketches of the fleeting apparitions they’ve seen wandering hallways. Even though the upper floors have undergone renovation, the underground section that held solitary confinement remains structurally intact. Although cells have been removed, there is intensity in this area that cannot be denied. Perhaps the most darkly powerful location is the tunnels. As Judy tells us, these small cramped, underground passageways once took guards to the watchtowers and their cottages on the outside of prison walls. Prisoners were also taken through the tunnels to get to and from work. It is believed the tunnels may have been used for prisoner discipline. There is no doubt, even the bravest ghost hunter would feel vulnerable and intimidated in these endlessly dark tunnels. We began our series of investigation in early 2012. These included private investigations with our core team and, later, public investigation for guests. The volume of recorded evidence collected to date is remarkable. There is no question many inmates at Michigan’s First State Prison have never left.
